Benefits of Essential Oils
Essential Oils are highly concentrated extracts distilled from plants. These botanical forms of medicine contain chemical structures that are similar to human and animal cells and tissue. As a result of this similarity, essential oils are not only specific to certain ailments, as important, they help increase overall immunity by increasing the vibration of the cell. This energy works as a catalyst, allowing the oil to discriminate which areas need balancing, stimulating, sedating or healing.
Essential oils have a unique fat-soluble structure and are made of very small molecules so they are very absorbable into the skin. As a general rule, place all oils in carrier oil so that they will not burn the skin. Dilute by adding 3 drops of pure essential oil to 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil, olive oil, almond oil, or avocado oil.
You may use the diluted oil in a warm bath. Oil is not water-soluble. If you add the essential oil in its pure form to bath water it may cause the skin to become irritated.
Oil is oil soluble. If you find that the diluted mixture is still too strong, dilute by massaging straight jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, olive oil, almond oil, or avocado oil to the area that has been irritated. Water will only move the oil around and will only spread the reaction.
Never use these oils around the eye area or in the ear canal. These areas are too delicate for the beginning user.
You can apply the diluted basil oil topically to the tip of the nose and on the temples. For minor skin irritations, apply diluted basil oil directly to the area that needs treatment.
